In 2008,
Dan Henderson lost to
Anderson Silva at UFC 82 in a hard-fought battle that unified the UFC and Pride middleweight titles. It was a good fight and one that established Silva, in the eyes of many, as the best mixed martial artist in the world.
But in Silva's three title defenses since that victory over Henderson more than two years ago, he hasn't been the same fighter, as he's mixed in a lot of dancing with his fighting in victories over Patrick Cote, Thales Leites and Demian Maia that were much less impressive than his victory over Henderson. On Wednesday Henderson said he's baffled by the way Silva has acted in those three fights.
"I think he fights like an idiot," Henderson said in
a chat with MMAFighting.com readers. "I don't think anyone knows what's going through his head these days, why he'd fight like that."
Henderson, who will fight for the Strikeforce middleweight belt against Jake Shields on Saturday night, hasn't exactly seen eye to eye with UFC President Dana White since Henderson left the UFC and signed with Strikeforce last year. But Henderson said he feels the same way White does about Silva's antics.
"I'm sure Dana's got to be pretty pissed at him," Henderson said. "it's beyond me."
