Bryant also discussed the first fight between Team Liddell and Team Ortiz and his thoughts on Saturday's UFC 112 card. The interview is below.
You were picked by Chuck Liddell rather than Tito Ortiz. Were you happy about that?
Oh, yeah. I thought Chuck was great and I thought he had all the great coaches too -- Jake Shields, Antonio Banuelos, Howard Davis, Scott Epstein and of course John Hackleman. I felt like I was very fortunate to be on a stellar team.
So for you it was about more than just being coached by Chuck, it was about being coached by all of those guys?
Right. Who better to help you get ready for a fight than the guys who help Chuck Liddell get ready for a fight?
What did you think of the spot you were chosen? You were right in the middle of the draft order. Did you want to be picked first?
I was fine with it. I knew there were some guys who had first-round knockouts and I won a decision to get onto the show so I figured they'd pick some of those guys ahead of me.
Kyle Noke, your teammate, beat Clayton McKinney to win the first fight. What did you think?
I thought Kyle was really good. We knew Clayton would want to throw bombs at Kyle so Kyle had a good game plan. The fight went to the ground and Kyle got the submission. I thought Kyle was good but I thought everyone on our team was good. Maybe Tito's team was taller but that's about it. I thought we had good fighters.
I know you're an MMA fan as well as being a fighter. What do you think about UFC 112?
It doesn't get much better than Anderson Silva and B.J. Penn. B.J. at 155 is just about unstoppable, and that's the same with Anderson Silva at any weight. Those guys are great.
