MMA veteran Claude Patrick is a happy man these days because he recently signed a multi-fight agreement with the UFC.
The 11-1 Canadian told SiriusXM Fight Club Thursday that he is still unsure when and where he will make his debut, but believes UFC 115 on June 12 in Vancouver, British Columbia, is a possibility.
Patrick said that he would love to make his debut in his home country, but just getting to the UFC should be considered a major feat because in July 2008 he was injured after being tasered in a hotel room following a Freedom Fight event in Gatineau, Quebec.
Amazingly, Patrick still has no clue who assaulted him.
"I do not remember anything about that," he said, "and it's very true. Some people just think I am trying to stop talking about it, but now, I have a slight memory loss, well, complete memory loss for two days from that whole thing.
"I woke up with no injuries. I just had a tube in my throat because I was in the hospital, and I was like, 'Oh, damn, well, what do I drink now?'"
The one-time IFL fighter, who will compete in the UFC's lightweight division, remembers going to a hotel room to thank the television crew for giving him backstage access to the fight. However, he was greeted by stranger who immediately assaulted him.
According to reports, Patrick was tasered from behind and then put into a medically induced coma by doctors for two days.
"I think it was an induced coma so to speak because getting tasered messes up with your heart rhythm and all that stuff. I got tasered several times, I think they said. I got the medical reports, because I tried to figure out what happened, and it was in French in doctor's writing, chicken scratch. No chance you can ever decipher that. So I just kind of took it and ran with it."
Patrick didn't suffer any career-threatening injuries, and he returned to action six months later. He's 3-0 since the incident.
And while he has put the assault behind, Patrick still has no clue who attacked him and why.
"If I knew who it was, I wouldn't be on the phone with you guys now, man," he said jokingly.
"I have no clue, man. I don't remember anything."
(Editor's note: MMAFighting.com's Ariel Helwani is a co-host on SiriusXM Fight Club. The show airs every Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 2-4 PM ET on Sirius 126, XM 243.)

I wonder if the guy who keeps calling him out tasered him?
Yeah it was probably the guy that called him out or his boys. I like his attitude though. Great answer when spaking about his loss. Positive attitude.
if he can not handle a little jolt he ain't no tough guy - mma if as fake as awa wrestling in the 50's
@Ga7smi you think MMA is fake? Sounds like talk to me. If you had any clue at all you would know the blood is real. Go back to playing golf and writing "first" on on your posts.
i guess its not about him handeling it or not its the fact someont taserd him
Great-- now we all know who Claude Patrick is. Any kind of publicity will do.
Likely it was Dana White, his employer....a media wh*re if ever there was one...
Anybody that fights be it for bread and butter or defense know when you see RED, you only focus on the task at hand...

Gimmee my money man, I aint playing, Next time it will be from the front with a ball bat. Better have my money next time I come looking for you.
the story doesnt make sense..something he's not telling us
LMAO. Yeah, the guy goes to a hotel room to thank a tv crew, but SUDDENLY OUT OF NOWHERE gets tazered, IN THE BACK, by a complete stranger.
Riiiiiiight. And WHO here is stupid enough to believe that?
This story is very incomplete. First of all what is this "chicken scratch" remark about the doctor's notes ? Typical of doctors' writing. But the "chicken" part shows his hate for French Canadians. I think he has insulted a few people and some people wanted to teach him a lesson and he isn't telling the whole story. I am certain of that.
There is a great movie all about Sirius XM and how it was started, the stock, the history, etc. called Stock Shock. DVD is at stockshockmovie.com--you will learn something, I did
