UFC 109 Draws $2.3M Gate

The Feb. 6 UFC event in Las Vegas drew 7,432 paid fans to the Mandalay Bay Events Center, totaling $2,273,000 in box office receipts.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission released the numbers to the media on Tuesday afternoon.
That number was slightly better than January's UFC 108, which did $1.9 million in tickets sales, emanating from the MGM Grand Garden Arena, just down the street on the Las Vegas strip.

For UFC 109, the UFC gave away over 3,000 tickets, and only 84 seats went unused in the arena.

UFC 109 featured a main event pitting legends Randy Couture and Mark Coleman against each other. Couture won by second-round submission.

In the co-main event, middleweight Chael Sonnen upset favored Nate Marquardt to put himself in line for an eventual crack at the championship.
