Ortiz stole the spotlight because the event was atrocious aside from Serra's KO of that egomaniac Trigg.
The fact the UFC could get away with marketing this as a relevant main event between Couture (who's delusional by continually saying he's getting better) and Coleman (who was a sitting heavy bag) shows how gullible the UFC fan base is.
It's why after this fight people were actually saying Randy looked great.

Stephen Bonnar lost to Coleman 6 months ago also. Think about that for a second next time he's on TV and Rogan and Goldberg are telling how great Bonnar is.
This event was however proof that the statement the best fighters in the world are in the UFC is a fallacy. That's what they will have you believe.
Aside from the very few elite guys at the top in the UFC the best fighters in the world are fighting all over the world not solely in the UFC.

And please don't tell me that those rankings are a "joke" or something. They are compiled by folks that know a helluva lot more than you or I... BTW, Rogan speaks of all the other "elite" guys during the broadcasts. He's not all UFC, he's pro MMA...
ufc does not have ALL of the best fighters but they have more than alot of other orgs. a suspect card is a suspect card, I dont care what org has their name on it
strikeforce is great and they are coming along but they've had a hard time finding credible matches in the past for some of their top guys. (thats another reason guys like mousasi have been fighting in japan) hopefully in 2010 they can stack their divisions and get some good matchups under their roof
lighter fighters have a few more options nowadays with bellator and being able to fight in japan during the off season. wec houses a few of the best lightweights in the world but so does dream.
so to be honest ufc may be the most known brand but in this day they arent the only show in town, so fighters and ESPECIALLY the fans have options

thats what im sayin , couture keeps getting main events, the guy is 18-10 in his career, and yes he held belts in two division multiple times but he never had to win 4, 5, 6 fights in a row to get a shot at a title, if he'd win 1, 2 times in a row theyd give him a shot, he shouldnt be in the main event and the fact that he keeps getting main events is proof that the ufc roster is not as strong as they would like you to think

Regarding UFC vs SF. How about we enjoy both promotions. Yes UFC is the better promotion with better talent and SF has to get their shit together with contracting their fighters and champions. But I enjoyed both companies last cards equally so thank god we have them both and choices.
