Nate Marquardt Ready to Claim Top Contender Spot After Initial Hesitation Over Matchup

LAS VEGAS -- The original plan for Nate Marquardt was to have him face Dan Henderson, and the winner would receive a shot at the middleweight title. But after Henderson, a free agent following his UFC 100 victory over Michael Bisping, signed with Strikeforce, Marquardt was essentially forced into a fight against Chael Sonnen, a fighter he admits to have being not all that excited to fight initially.

MMA Fighting spoke to Marquardt at Wednesday's UFC 109 media day about his initial hesitation to fight Sonnen, how he plans on defeating the Team Quest member and why he wants Anderson Silva to defeat Vitor Belfort at UFC 112. Check out the video interview below.
