Unbeaten rising welterweight star Rory MacDonald and decorated veteran Carlos Condit have both verbally agreed to a UFC 115 bout, MMAFighting.com has confirmed through a source close to the fight.
The 20-year-old MacDonald made his UFC debut less than three weeks ago, defeating Mike Guymon by first-round armbar at UFC Fight Night 20. With the win, he improved to 10-0.
A matchup against Condit represents a major step up in competition.
A former WEC welterweight champion, Condit successfully defended that belt three times before the organization's 170-pound class was integrated into the UFC.
In his UFC debut last April, he dropped a tight split decision to Martin Kampmann, but he rebounded in September by defeating Jake Ellenberger by split decision.
The fight will take place at GM Place in Vancouver, British Columbia, just a few hours drive from MacDonald's home in Kelowna. The event will be the first held in Vancouver since the city voted to regulate MMA for a two-year test period.
The possibility of the MacDonald-Condit bout was first reported by MMAMania.com.
