It seems like every MMA fan, critic and fighter has an opinion on whether Dan Hardy deserves a title shot against UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre. man, i hope hardy wins. i cant stand gsps boring fight style, i train mma and wrestled, so i know its part of the fight game but still...EVERYTIME a fight gets exciting he takes a guy down and nothing happens. No one can sweep gps or do any damage, and gsp doesnt finish fights...all he does is pitter-patter and dry hump his way to a decision. yea the pitter-patters do damage, and it wouldnt be a bad fight if it werent for having to watch it for 25 minutes !! i hope hardy KOs gsp, and that gsp starts to stand with guys...ever since he got KOed by serra hes a v-a-g-i-n-a IMO.
what do you mean you wrestled? you went out your freshman year and quit after a week or two? nobody that actually wrestled has such a lack of understanding.
gsp made penn quit, and making people quit is what wrestling is about.
I agree whole heartedly with you eric. GSP is probably the most boring fighter in the entire UFC next to maybe Thales Leites. Since Serra knocked him out GSP plays it safe by getting the takedown and laying on his opponents for 5 rounds on his way to a decision. He never tries to finish the fight when he has a dominant position and seemingly can't finish opponents. He couldn't finish Penn, Alves and he won't finish Hardy. I so hope Dan knocks him out or GSP gets a backbone and wants to exchange. Dominant? Yes. Boring? Yes. It's not exciting to pay $50 to see a guy lay around for 5 rounds and never do anything ... Tito has the same style yet it's exciting because he has vicious GnP and tries to finish his opponents.
eric - Is GSP's style boring ... ? Yes, but at the end of the day a win is a win. If he doesn't care about being exciting, then what can we do? He couldn't finish Koscheck, Fitch, or Alves and the only reason he finished Penn is because of a size difference, dominate wrestling, and Vasoline.
Richard - I know you hate Penn, but seriously what is with all this "he made Penn quit" stuff? He outwrestled Penn and pounded him with elbows for 4 rounds. He kicked Penn's ass - plain and simple. If you want to see someone quit in a fight, watch Serra/GSP I.
either way if hardy gets a shot off he is knocking him out ,but we all know gsp is going to take him down and ground and pound him just like the whole greg jackson camp does,,, 2 jabs a heavy punch and shoot for the shoe lace take down, i hope hardy wins then beats koscheck just for good measure

Comment by ARM*BAR Athletics just now Delete Comment The last 10 fights that GSP was in, 6 ended either in KO or SUB. 2 out of the 10 decision victories for GSP. BJ Penn vs GSP fight UFC Canada vs.USA. earned fight of the night and many could argue BJ won that fight it was a coin flip decision and if you saw GSP's face after that fight you would second guess this glass jaw theory of yours. 2nd decision fight was against Koscheck which was hardly a boring fight at all, and it was the fight that marked a much improved GSP as he displayed an aptitude for wrestling against one of the best. The only other decision victories were the Jon Fitch and Thiago Alves fights. The bottom line here is Fitch is a tremendous wrestler so GSP had a much harder time with Fitch then the other wrestlers in his division so he had to out wrestle Fitch, it dose not always make for the most entertaining matches. the Thiago Alves fight was much different, there was a lot of hype behind Thiago Alves and if you watch video on Alves you can see this guy hits like a Mac truck, he is very big and has alot of muscle, so GSP implemented strategy in his win over Alves by tying him up in the clinch making Alves work for position in the meantime lactic acid builds up in the muscle robbing the oxygen needed to fuel those muscles thus rendering Alves's strength useless. I will admit that the Alves fight was not the most entertaining, but you cannot judge GSP on one fight, he needed to win to keep his title, and he was not going to out strike Alves, so GSP fought his fight . It's funny that this dude wrote this comment on MMA fanhouse because if he ever wants to fight pro he would be better off learning from a guy like GSP rather then criticizing him
ummmm...no actually, i wrestled since i was 8 yrs old man...its not a lack of understanding, its that it gets boring watching the same thing every fight. hes not an exciting fight IMO, and thats cuz im a standup fighter...i love seeing ground matches when its back and forth, but with gsp its not...no one can sweep him or do damage from the bottom so its a landslide and gets very boring to watch. next time dont try and be such a badass cuz u had no idea what u were talking about
you were doing ok until you got to the end. its not about being a badass, its about appeciating a skillset, dumbass. to discount dominate wrestling as boring and something you dont want to watch means you should go watch boxing or kick boxing, they dont let them wrestle there. being in a youth league doesnt mean you wrestled with a lot of passion. when you talk stand up - all the karates, gung fus, tkd and even muay thai were forms of self defense. wrestling is about wanting to compete. being dominate isnt boring. if you cant watch gsp's ground game and think its good, why even bother watching mma. dominating someone on the ground takes a lot more than a getting a one shot ko punch.
I hear you about the boredom that comes along with some of his fights, but at least he does try to do damage from top position. Jake Shields on the other hand wouldn't even throw a punch from the top during the last CBS show and I found that fight very slow. My hope is that with the added weight GSP has put on he might be more powerful and start finishing more guys with gnp once he gets on top. Either way, can't fault the guy for anything, he's the man. Tough to stop those takedowns.
Can't fault him for winning but you can fault him for having a boring style and not taking any chances. I think he knows he has a paper chin and if he gets touched he'll get knocked out again so instead of getting punched in the face he just takes a guy down.
yea haha shields is terrible man, i honestly dont even consider him a mixed martial artist...but what i think doesnt matter lol if gsp at least TKOed a guy, itd be better...so hopefully that weight and rest period will help him finish someone, or maybe now he'll get some sort of killer instinct...til then i would much rather see someone like johnson fight or rua.
doesnt matter if its boring or not a win is a win. if that is what he does to get his wins, so be it cant decide for him what to do and how hes going to win. so why complain about it or about what anyone does, in mma you do what you gotta do to win easy as that.

haha well vag was a bit of an exaggeration, but he doesnt have the balls to stand with anyone...as of lately. yea unfortunately i saw that beating he gave alves lol...those damn trex arms of alves man, shoulda let those kicks fly. and yes i want macheater to lose too...hes very boring to watch also...and just plain awkward...from his fighting style to his looks and personality lol im part japanese but that dude just looks weird hahaha...in the end, they're the champs and they know how to play the game so i do respect em for that...just would rather see em come up on the short end o the stick sometime soon.

richarddickhole...again ur retarded...it wasnt just a youth league i wrestled in...we traveled sooo much and i wont a LOT of tournaments...i stopped wrestling because i tore up my ankle and had a better chance after that of making it as a pitcher in college. i never said gsp wasnt a good wrestler or that i didnt appreciate hit skills...just its boring to watch for 25 minutes. i know its work to control someone for that long, but it doesnt negate the fact that im not entertained by it whatsoever...especially when we all know thats exactly what hes gunna do.
lol yea for sure...i thought he was gunna def at least push/challenge gsp, but his trex arms hindered him. haha...and damn you man, i got 5 wisDUMB teeth out so i have been living off of lame food for the past several days. haha.
