That was a great fight for ALDO.
Hail the New Champ
I tried to tell everyone that Aldo would MAUL Mike Brown ... total PWNAGE .... like I said Brown is just to slow and plodding for Aldo.
your not the only one that picked aldo i also said aldo was going to destroy brown
Who's the hill billy now boy? Mike Swick, Mike Brown, Frank Mir. These guys all talked smack on Brock and got their butts kicked. Of course, since Brock is such a terrible champ, he kicked his own butt too! ;)
Doesn't make Brock any less of a hill billy or an ass, though. Brock is getting his karma back now by probably never being able to fight again.
That's why Brock is the perfect opponent for Fedor. everything Brock touches dies, gets mono, or gets knocked out.
Well he'd have a good chance but I don't see that fight happening with Lesnar being retired because of illness. I still think Fedor would win but I guess Brock has abused his body a lot of the years with the college wrestling, entertainment wrestling, football and MMA to the point that we'll likely never know.
Who you think wins the Ortiz vs Griffin fight?
I'll be watching the Ward vs Kessler super 6 bout because I think the UFC card is pretty weak. I'll catch it free on Spike in a few months when SF has their next show.
It's hard for me to ever pull against Griffin because he's just so humble and personable but he's been kind of exposed for having a suspect chin against Silva and against Evans he kind of got exposed for his guard defense. I'm thinking if Tito doesn't gas out that he'll probably get the decision. Don't see a stoppage either way. I'd sure love to see Griffin beat Ortiz at his own game though and work some serious GnP on that big head of Tito's.
That fight will never happen and to be honest I rather it doesn't. I think the intrigue is much more fun than actually seeing the fight. It'll be one sided one way or another. Why ruin the fun.
As far as Forrest, I used to like the guy but I have developed this sick addiction to see him get knocked out and run. Run forrest, run! I don't know. Forrest is damaged goods. tito can still be interesting against some of the guys. Forrest can fight Bonnar 10 more times for all I care. I get your point about him being humble but I think he has exposed himself as being a douche. Come on. If Brock had run from the ring after his first loss to Mir, people would throw eggs at his face everytime he showed up. I will watch the boxing and the UFC. I have multiple TVs ;)
Yeah I hear you on Forrest being kind of a douche. I think he was probably just the quiet guy in school and with his new found fame plays the role of the self deprecating arse to deflect from his own insecurities. By making fun of himself all the time he shields himself from other people having an effect on him ... basically he takes the ammunition and shoots himself. Still, I'm a fan of the guy even though I've never felt he was truly a great fighter ... lots of heart though. Look at his last handful of fights and you do have to say he doesn't duck anyone: Shogun, Jardine, Silva, Evans, Rampage, Tito & Bonnar. Pretty tough fights if you ask me. I'd like to see him fight Couture rather than that old man Mark Coleman. Even if Chuck comes back I'd like to see him and Forrest slug it out.
As far as watching both ... I just don't think the UFC is worth the money so I'm not going to pay for it. I'm more interested in seeing Andre Ward fight Kessler. I hope Ward doesn't get screwed in a decision like Dirrell did against Froch. That was just embarrassing for the tournament.
The Griffin vs Ortiz card is the type of one I might go out to a sports bar with some friends to see but I'm not interested enough to sit at home and watch it by myself. We usually do viewing parties where everyone chips in a few bucks but during the Pacquiao fight no one wanted to watch it so I just bought it and watched it with my fiance. I just cant see myself doing that after seeing all this epic free MMA lately. That Jose Aldo is a freak of nature man.
You see Rumble handling Koscheck pretty easily? I see a vicious knockout in the first round for Johnson. No way any welterweight other than GSP can hang with that dude.
I was one of the first to defend Couture against Vera. But I really don't like to see him anymore. He is just not the same fighter he was before he left the company. I hate seeing him get knocked out but Brock TKOd him. Nog should have TKOd him. Vera almost TKOd him. It's just a matter of time. I don't want to see anyone get knocked out like Liddel was against Rashad. Couture is a legend but he is way too old. He can fight. But against older guys. I think Couture could beat guys like Tito or Forrest. But anyone with real knock out power and tough stand up will be trouble.
Anthony Johnson hopefully makes weight. He should. If he does, I see bad days in Kosch forecast. I mean if Thiago can knock this guy out, why not Johnson. I am actually going to go out on a limb and say that Johnson is a much more interesting fight for GSP than Dan freaking Hardy. In fact, Johnson should move up and fight Anderson or top middleweights.
As far as boxing, I still think Kessler is the #1 guy. He lost to Calzaghe but it'll be an interesting fight. I would have paid to see a rematch between the two.
Manny vs. Floyd I don't want to see. Let's just keep them away so we can talk trash. I mean as long as they are dodging each other and fighting other top guys, you can keep the intrigue. That fight shouldn't be next. But I have a feeling it will be. What's next after that who knows. Floyd will cheat again by not making weight though.
GASP! Johnny and exp are burying the hatchet! I can't believe what I'm seeing! Just kidding. It's actually good to see guys having a far less heated discussion. As far as last night goes. I just got two words. Jose Aldo. Did not expect him to shut down Mike Brown the way he did. To be honest J5 I don't see Urijah Faber doing that much better either. Jose Aldo truly has a bright future in this sport. I envy him for accomplishing something so great at such a young age too. It's truly inspirational.
Yeah man there is no reason all of us can't be civil towards each other. We're all on this site because we like MMA even if we disagree on specifics. Still, it's juvenile to segregate ourselves from others and their ideas. It doesn't mean we all have to be best friends but some mutual respect can go a long way. So, I figured I'd try that and exp reciprocated. Win-Win for everyone.
But, I don't think Urijah would win either I just think style wise he is a better matchup for Aldo than Mike Brown. Faber vs Aldo would be one hell of a shootout and you never know what happens if those hands connect. In my opinion Aldo is without a doubt one of the best fighters in the world and I'd go as far to say that he could move up to lightweight and give most of those guys trouble as well aside from maybe Penn, Alvarez or Aoki which I still think Aldo has a shot but he wouldn't run through them.
Exp's views maybe "unique" to say the least, but he doesn't seem like he means much harm. Besides, if anyone can debate just about anyone in any MMA topic, it's you. It's true you never, know what may happen in these fights. Aldo vs. Faber would be a very interesting match nevertheless. I guess the only question I would have, is how good Jose Aldo can take a shot. He's also shown that he has awesome takedown defense too. Regarding your thought of Aldo moving up to lightweight, I hate to say this to you, but I don't think his chances against Aoki would be too bad. At least as long as he keeps it on the feet. Aoki's main weakness isn't so much his standup, but his durability. From what I've seen, Aoki cannot take punishment. Isn't Aldo a BJJ world champ?
