HOFFMAN ESTATES, ILL. -- This is the Strikeforce live blog for Fedor Emelianenko vs. Brett Rogers, the main event of Strikeforce's debut card CBS.
Fedor, widely considered the no. 1 heavyweight in the world, fights inside the cage for the first time, in a fight against Rogers, an unbeaten puncher coming off a shocking 22-second knockout over former UFC champion Andrei Arlovski in June.
The live blog begins below.
Round 1: Fedor throws a huge right and left-punch combo. Rogers avoids, but he was able to land a jab before Fedor's combo that opened up a nasty cut on the bridge of Fedor's nose. Fedor throws a right and clinches. He puts Rogers on the floor but Rogers powers his way up and presses Fedor against the cage. They separate with 2:51 remaining in the first. Fedor throws and right and hits Rogers with a left. Fedor takes Rogers down. Fedor throws lefts from Rogers' halfguard. Fedor grabs a kimura. Rogers avoids and drops punches inside Fedor's guard. Fedor attempts an armbar, but Rogers gets out. Fedor escapes to his feet. Rogers turtles. Fedor lands in Rogers' halfguard. Fedor stands up. Rogers buttscoots. Fedor flies in and misses a right. Rogers closes his guard.

Round 2: Fedor misses a straight left. Rogers misses a punch. Fedor sets up clinch with his looping right and left punch- combo. Fedor unloads on Rogers, who covers. Rogers jumps back into clinch. They separate with 3:26 left. Fedor drops Rogers with right! Fedor pounces and Rogers is done.

Rogers had his "punchers chance!" His jab was on target and did it's job. However, EXP; anymore cheap shots by you thrown in the direction of Fedor will only prove your ignoarance. Also, next fight should be "FIVE ROUNDS." Fedor can then unleash all of his skills and punish Rogers a little more.
I think Rogers showed that he had more than a punchers chance...his power he was able to hold his own on the ground game...however that is just hats off to Fedor who was able to over come a bloody nose to win this fight in stunning fashion...and let's be honest a TKO is more entertaining than a tap-out...
Damn Fedor is a BEAST!!!! I had my doubts...this was the first time I have ever seen one of his fights...
When his nose got broken and after Rogers started to ground and pound on him I thought it was a matter of time before he was done...but damn! This was a very entertaining fight and I don't care who is rated best in the world anytime you fight an opponent 40 pounds heavier and 6 inches taller you are the underdog...
Fedor was definitely the better skilled fighter in this great MMA bout.He timed Brett Rogers perfectly and laid out,the Black man from "Da projex",with ONE powerful right hand!
Brett Rogers' was spewing ebonics gibberish after his loss,acting like an overgrown crack baby from "Da projex".Rogers is a loser in-and-out of the octagon.Contrast Rogers' silly behavior with Fedor's calm,disciplined demeanor.Fedor is a great man in-and-out of the octagon!
THE LAST THING ROGERS FIGURED WOULD HAPPEN, HAPPENED.THAT'S HOW GOOD FEDOR IS, GIVE IT TO ROGERS HE BROUGHT IT ALL TONIGHT BUT FEDOR CAN STAND AND PUNCH OR DO IT ON THE GROUND. GREAT KNOCK-OUT GREAT FIGHT.
Early stoppage. And if Fedor fights Werdum instead of Overeem, he is just dodging tough competition again.
Having said that, my hats off to Fedor. Doesn't make him the best fighter ever but definitely top 3 heavyweight. Good job. I actually would love to see a rematch though I think if Fedor was not bleeding, this fight would be done in the first round.
So if Overeem doesn't come and fight Fedor then it's Fedor who is ducking? huh? That doesn't make a lick of sense. Overeem has been fighting straight up tomato cans lately (Sylvester & Thompson!) and has held the SF HW title for 2 years without defending it ... you'll look for anything to bash the guy over. Who in the HW landscape of MMA is better than Fedor? Look at the tale of the tape for this fight and see the massive size advantage for Rogers. It was practically David vs Goliath.
I think Rogers was game and proved he is for real. He's still raw and new to MMA and in a few years time might very well be one of the best HW's in MMA. He's certainly no tomato can ... the guy reminds me of George Foreman.
Fedor is smaller but he uses his speed to his advantage against these HW's. His reign won't be challenged anytime soon in or of the UFC. I give Overeem a better chance than Lesnar.

brock,the natural, cane valq,and probly frank mir would all beat him. id say he'd have a 50/50 chance again them all except brock. i dont think he could beat broke, unless he got lucky and snagged an ankle, or maybe arm bar of some sort.
and i know all you little fedor freaks think he's the best. he is very well rounded that is it. all its gona take is someone with the same well-rounded fighter, with size because fedor is a small heavy weight. I personally think if he could cut to light heavyweight, he would be #1.
he beat tim silvia... andre... they are nothing. sure they held titles in THERE DAY. he didnt even fight them in there prime. not to mention niether of theme would have done as good as they did now days, the competition is alot better.
put fedor in the ufc. give him cane, he'll probly lose. if he pulls that off give him brock. he wont.

Fedor to be put frankly is a fan man who can't fight. He is a brawler, very much like Kimbo Slice. Kimbo beat Tank Abbot to (like Fedor did Rogers). Fedor will never fight anyone who is a threat to him.
