The Ultimate Fighter 10 heavyweight Zak Jensen is facing a wrongful death lawsuit involving the death of a Minnesota college student on a spring break trip in March to Mexico.
Minnesota's Stillwater Gazette is reporting that the family of the student, alleging that the student died during an altercation with Jensen, filed a suit Thursday against Jensen, Jason Jones and company Sterling Systems.
Jensen was on the trip as a bodyguard for Jason Jones' daughter Ashley, a friend of the college student. Ashley Jones and Jensen were allegedly in the same room with the student during the death of the student in a bathroom at the Sheraton Hotel in Puerto Vallarta.
According to KSTP TV, the lawsuit states that Jensen told a hotel worker that he acted in self defense, and that an autopsy revealed that the student had wounds on his face and choked on his own vomit.
The 26-year-old Jensen (7-3), selected on the show as a member of Team Rampage, succumbed to a triangle choke by Darrill Shoonover during week six of The Ultimate Fighter 10.

That freaken sucks first he lost then this WOW.
Go wanderlei
douche box.
It sounds like the dead guy tried to rape the girl or tried to beat Jensen in order to impress the girl.
The family is just too angry to accept that their son effetively killed himself through booze/drugs and choking on his own vomit.
you might want to try and re-read that article buddy. It didn't say anything about alcohol or drugs. Im guessing this is something your pathetic ass went through with your family huh?
thats crazy they had a pool going for him i should have bet on that day
Damn ... where are the UFC background checks? I guarantee they didn't know about this. Looks bad for the UFC regardless of whether Jensen was at fault or not.
body guard, not substitute fighter. what a pos. if you cant leave it on the mat you dont deserve to learn mma.
Eric, i don't think it would've found this. Note how this is a civil case, not a criminal one....
There's not enough evidence for a criminal case to proceed most likely, which means i think they'd give Jensen the benefit of the doubt. Still, the standards for civil cases are lower than criminal cases, and Jensen is probably going to face a very prejudicial jury.
It sounds likea boy tried to be a man and lost (his life)too bad.Sounds cold but if no criminal charges were filed it looks like it was a terrible accident.
You all should be more sensitive to the fact that a family LOST THEIR SON, regardless if Jensen is liable or not. They just want answers, listen to how completely ignorant you sound before you decide to leave immature and irrational comments about someone's life.
