Josh Barnett's License Appeal Delayed Until December

Josh Barnett is scheduled to present his appeal in front of the California state athletic commission on Dec. 8 to clear his name from a positive drug test earlier this summer.

Barnett, who was the first fighter subjected to a random testing in California, was scheduled to meet with the commission Monday, but the former UFC champ's attorney requested that his hearing be postponed to allow additional time for Barnett to receive unspecified documents related to his results from the World Anti-doping Agency test facility at UCLA in Los Angeles.

Barnett was tested in June and results were revealed late July to be positive for 2a-methyl-5a-androstan-3a-ol-17-one, an anabolic steroid. The commission promptly denied Barnett a license to fight Fedor Emelianenko, which not only led to the cancellation of the Aug. 1 Affliction 3 event, but the demise of Affliction as a fight promoter.

Barnett, who is denying intentionally ingesting any banned substances, awaited the results of his "B" sample, but that also came back positive a week after.
