Comments (Page 1 of 1)
I'm going to watch Dream here in about 40 minutes on HD Net ... why watch a press conference from the worst decision in the history in the UFC? I'm done with the UFC ... completely finished. I'm that upset right now over the decision.
Johnny - If you're on the ledge; by all means jump LOL... Tomorrow Rua's left eye will be as swollen as a softball. Machida tagged him good!
Ted -
You are entitled to your opinion and I'm entitled to mine. The difference is that 95% of the people who watched the fight (including those in attendance that cheered Machida throughout the fight) agree that Shogun Rua dominated in the fight. Thats why damn near every comment on every MMA message board is up in arms over the decision. This isn't just a few people: it's everyone who watched with an unbiased opinion (unlike you) and judged the fight based on what they saw not who they were rooting for.
Stop acting all butt hurt because your boy got over with a controversial decision. Deal with it -- Machida got bailed out by the judges. Make all the excuses you like but at the end of the day you are in the extreme minority.
Machida simply got outclassed. Look at his body language before the decision was read ... looking down and caustic expecting to hear bad news. He knows he lost even if he has to much pride to admit it publicly.
I kind of feel the same way right now. Watching the UFC this year has been totally from the past few years. I hope this isn't a turn for the worst, but I won't be sticking around to find out. I wish I had HD Net like you...
does anyone hear rematch ,,,,,shogun did some damage to the body and legs of machida but machida had more knees which might be more efective in hurting the mid section and scoring points, he also had more punches and he blocked every take down every time and he was the champion already which always get a little leeway in the judges eyes ,, they say you should never put it in the hands of the judges ,,,and are they ever right,,, with that being said shogun did a great job and he should have a rematch after they both heal ,im sure machida was not used to being hit so next time he will have a differnt aproach to shogun and have answers for the body kick,,,,i saw dana white lip sync to shogun that he won the fight ,,just my opinion
i forgot to say i was rooting for machida
close fight but i dont think shogun didnt do quite enough to win, maybe a draw in a regular fight, but being a title fight u have to really take the belt to win or really impress the judges, i had it split 2 rounds to 1 machida..ive seen machida take abuse before win bj penn faught machida at 185, but this was a close fight, but being a title fight shogun just didnt take the belt from the champ.
2 rounds to 1?
Umm did you even watch the fight? This was a 5 rounder not a 3 rounder. Unless I'm not understanding what it is you are saying ...
... and Bj Penn fought Machida at an open weight fight. Machida weighed in at about heavyweight (I believe it was actually 225 lbs) and BJ Penn came in that fight just above 190 lbs. Shows you how insane BJ Penn really is ... freaking animal. Machida won a decision but if you go back and watch that fight Machida really didn't do much of anything. Not like it matters at this point but it was pretty interesting to see someone outweighed by a few weight classes and still hold the guy down on the ground.
As for the Shogun vs Machida fight. I went back and watched it a second time to see if I had missed something or if I still believed that Shogun won 4 rounds to 1 ... after watching it again there are literally only a total of two rounds that could be given to Machida in my opinion. There is only one round that he definitively won (round 3) and the only other round he could have been argued to have won (in my opinion of course) is round 2. But, even after watching it a second time Machida really didn't do any damage or ... he really didn't do much at all in that fight.
In my opinion Shogun Rua got jobbed by the refs. It was a total sham job and the UFC should be completely ashamed. Whatever ... not my problem anymore. I'll still support my favorite fighters when they are on an event and I'll still attend some live events but no way in hell I'm paying for anymore of their PPVs - especially if they are going to completely rob fighters who won their fights.
Machida looked like a defeated man after the fight. It's obvious he also thought he lost that fight.
well johnny, it's apparent you have issues with the ufc and mma in general, but if you think shogun dominated the fight, you can't be helped. neither fighter showed anything that resembled dominance. at best i can say shogun frustrated machida by getting off more strikes, mostly leg kicks, probably edging out three rounds to two. i agree machidas body language displayed uncertainty before and surprise after the decision, but you can't fault him for that or his comments afterwards. he didn't say he dominated the fight or anything like that. oh, and please don't use pro wrestling terms (jobbed) unless you truly feel pro wrestling and mma are related.
I, like the other 90% of fans and fighters, had the fight at 3/5, most likely 4/5 rounds for Rua. My mouth was agap for 3 hrs after the fight. I wont beat a dead horse. What I was surprised by also, was the Velasquez vs. Rothwells fight. I didnt listen to the whole post fight conference, but i love Dana White's quote regarding Mazzigatti. "The man shouldn't watch MMA, let alone ref a MMA fight". Mazzigatti stopped another one too soon. Rothwell probably wasnt going to win that fight, but u never kno, and he was defending himself. If he was going to stop it, it should have been at the end of the first round. They need to get rid of him. He has influenced way too many fights. I think he has $$$ on them or something.
