CBS Takes Fedor Emelianenko vs. Brett Rogers Ad Campaign to YouTube

With less than three weeks to go before its Fedor Emelianenko vs. Brett Rogers fight, CBS is starting to use YouTube to hype the bout, and its newest ad features fighter Frank Shamrock and SI.com writer Josh Gross weighing in on why Fedor vs. Rogers is a blockbuster fight.
"Fedor Emelianenko is the best fighter I've ever seen," Gross says in the commercial, "And I've been covering mixed martial arts for 10 years now."
Says Shamrock, "He has beaten every single style and every single opponent. He is the answer to the question, Who is the best?"
The ad also features a little bit about Fedor and Rogers personally, with Fedor described as a Russian who lives in seclusion and Rogers described as a guy who used to make his living changing tires at Sam's Club and is now getting his big opportunity.
Overall, I think it's a good sign that CBS is making ads like this, I just think we need to see a lot more of it. Most hard-core MMA fans agree with Gross and Shamrock that Fedor is the best fighter in the world, but the question is whether CBS can reel in viewers who don't usually follow MMA by telling the fighters' personal stories.
Fedor and Rogers both have great stories to tell. The success of this show will depend largely on how CBS tells those stories over the next two and a half weeks.

Good to see Strikeforce and CBS using Youtube for their promotional campaign.
I think we've gotta look at the long run of all this. It was enough already with the whole ufc 100 spectacle and how 'mainstream' mma was gonna be afterwards. Why does everyone have their seatbelts strapped so tight waiting for mma to 'blow up'?? Who cares, its gonna happen. this is good for the core mma fans who have been following up to this point. Ufc 100 was more hype than anything, and now the only good fight is tarnished with dana going against his word for hendos title shot. And ufc 103 was a big wakeup call for dana thinking ufc was gonna be a garaunteed 1 million plus ppv business just on the brand power alone.
Nov 7th on cbs will be the best thing to happen to mma so far, whether it does higher ratings than the kimbo circus show or not. We're getting the best mma fighter of all time. Period. Plus much more. Its gonna take years for the sport to truly hit mainstream, and there's nothing at this point that's gonna stop that from happening.
Ratings ratings, blah blah... who cares if the football fans tune in. The mma fans will be tuning in, strikeforce showtime and cbs are gonna make a buck and we'll all finally get a nice break from the expensive ufc marketing hyped up crap we've had the last couple years.

So far I like that there's no circus advertising for the show. This is much classier than having a kimbo story to promote with. I'm sure they're doing everything they can and there will be lots of viewers who will get a great display of world class mma.
Most people consider TUF and the UFC to be to different things. Guys with less experience and less credentials than Kimbo made it on the show, so what's wrong with him being there? If Kimbo continues to lose and ends up on the main card of a UFC PPV event, then you can tell me I told you so.
Did the UFC put him on TUF to boost ratings? Yes, but that's just good business sense. If you think that SF wouldn't love to have Kimbo - you're wrong!
Just giving my 2 cents on the Kimbo issue ... not trying to start a rant.
ufc was a class act,but the fights now seem fixed
to hype up the next one.
griffin/silva was a shame and so on.

can I see some documentation for your claims? Heck. You might not even have ID doc. Just so you know, I am on a crusade to cut BS on the Internet. And you are full of it. Can you prove the UFC is fixed? Show me it was 100% fixed.

AS FOR THE THE OTHER GUY, READ THIS: MILLIONS AROUND THE WORLD WITNESSED YOU, "TIRE GUY", GETTING KNOCKED DOWN, COVER AND CLOSE YOUR EYES, LIKE A LITTLE GIRL. SO MUCH FOR THE BIG, STUPID, TRASH MOUTH OF AN ARROGANT WAANABE. THE LEAST THAT YOU COULD DO IS JUST SHUT UP AND ALLOW US TO HEAR FEDOR'S RESPONSES TO THE QUESTIONS AFTER YOUR HUMILIATING LOSS. CBS HAD TO SENSOR YOUR DUMPSTER MOUTH AND IT MADE YOU LOOK EVEN SMALLER AND MORE INSIGNIFICANT THAN BEFORE THE FIGHT. LESSON # 1- LEARN TO BE RESPECTFUL.
THERE IS NO NEED FOR REMATCH WITH THIS DEFEATED GUY. THERE ARE OTHER GOOD, TRUE SPORTSMEN, WHO DESERVE TO FIGHT FEDOR.
