An injury to Matt Hamill has forced a change to the upcoming UFC 102 card, as Krzysztof Soszynski, and not Hamill, will now reportedly face Brandon Vera in the first fight of the pay-per-view show.
Hamill's manager, Duff Wilson, confirmed to FanHouse that Hamill was forced to pull out of the fight due to a meniscus tear in his knee. Wilson said Hamill is scheduled for surgery on Tuesday and will be back in the gym training after a few weeks of rehab. Wilson added that Hamill has had the same procedure on his other knee and came back 100%, so he expects to be back in the Octagon this fall.
Loretta Hunt of Sherdog was the first to report that Soszynski has agreed to face Vera.
I just wrote yesterday that I was looking forward to a good fight between Hamill and Vera, so I'm personally a little disappointed by this news, but I think Soszynski vs. Vera is a plenty good fight, too. Soszynski is 2-0 this year, having finished both his opponents in the first round, and I think his strength and wrestling prowess should make him a tough opponent for Vera.
Here's how the UFC 102 card is shaping up:
Randy Couture vs. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira
Keith Jardine vs. Thiago Silva
Chris Leben vs. Jake Rosholt
Nate Marquardt vs. Demian Maia
Matt Hamill vs. Brandon Vera
Gabriel Gonzaga vs. Chris Tuchscherer
Wilson Gouveia vs. James Irvin
Nick Catone vs. Mark Munoz
Evan Dunham vs. Matt Veach
Mike Russow vs. Todd Duffee

@MDS
You have to post this new video of Dana White railing on Fedor and saying he isn't one of the best fighters in the world.
YOU GUYS NEED A TIP'S LINK!!!

Dana is so full of it ... I guarantee if Fedor is in the UFC then all of a sudden he is the best fighter in the history of MMA. Give me a break. I'm glad the radio host called him out on his "revisionist history" as well. The guy is a promoter but his opinions can't be taken seriously.
