Mark Coleman surprised a lot of people by defeating Stephan Bonnar at UFC 100, but he said afterward that he didn't surprise himself.
"I had a lot of doubters, and I can't stand being called an old man," Coleman said. "You can call me anything you want, but don't call me an old man."
Some have suggested that Coleman, both against Bonnar and especially in his loss to Shogun Rua in January, wasn't in good enough shape to fight for 15 minutes. But Coleman insisted that if he looked tired, it was because he was playing possum.
"I always look tired," Coleman said. "I play possum. I play possum."
Coleman added that he thinks he can be a factor in the light heavyweight division. I don't think it's realistic to expect Coleman to beat a Top 10 light heavyweight at this stage in his career, but I am a Coleman fan, I think it's great that Coleman has rededicated himself to his training, and I'll enjoy his next fight.
