In anticipation for its biggest event to date, Strikeforce will hold a press conference for "Carano vs Cyborg" on Tuesday, July 14 at "The World's Most Famous Arena" in New York City.
Madison Square Garden has hosted numerous historic boxing fights but has never housed a mixed martial arts card since the sport remains illegal in New York. The closest experience has been a closed circuit screening in the venue for UFC 79 in December 2007.
"Carano vs Cyborg," happening on Aug. 15 at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, features a total of four championship bouts: women's 145-pounders Gina Carano (7-0) vs. Cris Cyborg (7-1), welterweights Joe Riggs (30-10) vs. Nick Diaz (20-7), heavyweights Alistair Overeem (29-11) vs. Fabricio Werdum (11-4-1) and lightweights Josh Thompson (16-2) vs. Gilbert Melendez (15-2).
Strikeforce.com will stream the conference at 2:30 p.m. ET.
