The UFC 100 heavyweight title fight between Frank Mir and Brock Lesnar is going to be a war of words before it becomes a war in the cage, and Mir has just leveled what he no doubt views as a serious insult of Lesnar, comparing his opponent to Ultimate Fighter bad boy Junie Browning. Video below.
Mir, who made no secret of the fact that he despised Browning when he coached him on The Ultimate Fighter, says that the hype surrounding Lesnar as a former WWE star reminds him of the hype surrounding Browning.
"(Lesnar) represents things that I don't," Mir told Dave Farra of RawVegas.tv. "He gets paid more than I do. ... Junie Browning was highlighted on the show and didn't even win the reality show. Efrain Escudero won the reality show and right now do most people know who Efrain is? So is that really teaching people in our sport to act respectful and to be a martial artist? That has to be a choice on your own. It actually probably hurts my pocketbook at the end of the day. But again, I don't look down on Brock for doing things like that, because guess what? Brock's going to make more money than I am when we fight each other."
Mir sounds very confident that he's going to prove that he's a better mixed martial artist than Lesnar, and he also said he'd love the opportunity to take on Fedor Emelianenko, who is widely regarded as the best heavyweight in MMA.
"I don't want to leave this life without ever having been in there with Fedor," Mir said. "I have to say he's the best heavyweight in the world. He has a better record than I have. Do I feel, though, that I could beat Fedor? Absolutely."

I think Fedor would smash both Mir and Lesnar. I hope Fedor signs with the UFC some day soon so we can find out.
Will you be there Mister MDS?
I am going second trip to vegas cant wait.

Anyone else going
I will be there. I hope to meet you.
Yes that would be fun
I went cheap this time will be at the imperial lol, but I will be around the fan expo and etc, try to let us know where you will be I will come to say Hi
I agree with Mir on the J. Browning thing, the guy didn't fight that good and got a lot of hype. Whats that about? Granted it's fun to watch him get his butt handed to him, but if fans want entertainment they should watch wrestling.
In my mind Mir got lucky when the ref pulled lesnar off him. Mir may well be the better mma artist, but lesnar is the bigger brute and quite honestly, I also think Lesnar puts in the most effort. I think Lesnar wins the rematch.
Mir or Lesnar would be good to watch with Fedor. I like Fedor in both fights. I think the UFC is hoping he gets too old before they have to pay him and then not having title to his life long marketing value.
Yeh uh im going to go ahead and compare Mir to Chuck Liddel....Hes going to get knock the F out.
I dont even like Brock but big is big and those anvil punches are the hardest thing in the UFC- now that they taught Brock how to punch with them.
Vs, Mir first time- he did a bunch of windmill punches and loopy ugly punches followed by weak hammer punches. NOW, he punched Heath into another Dimension and Randy into old age home.
Brocks punching power will be the end of Mir, Mir has been the victim to easy strike Knock outs before.
One big difference between Brock and Junie: Brock is a good fighter. Junie isn't.
Am i the only one who thinks Mir is being a bit distasteful here?
Sure, he begrudges Lesnar. Sure, he's definitely the all around better fighter. Sure, he's proven himself time and again.
But it's that last part that he seems to overlook now. It's like he needs the hype machine more than Brock does. Disappointing, really.
It'll be an interesting rematch, and yes, both fighters are obviously dedicated to this sport, so why not let the prospect talk instead of the trash talk? Esp from Mir. Lesnar, being a former WWE product..well, i can see trash talking, but Frank?
Say it ain't so, i guess.
Agreed with Clay. A bit disappointing to me to see Frank blustering about Lesnar, earned or not. I think Mir can take Lesnar via submission - assuming Lesnar doesn't KO him first, LOL.
I would love to see Mir or Lesnar vs Fedor.
Richard -
Dana has offered a boat-load of money for Fedor to fight in the UFC, but Affliction wants the UFC to cross-promote their events (or something like that) as part of the deal. It's not just Dana being an ass or cheap.
Hey skeen267 the issue that Fedor hasn't signed with UFC is very complicated. The UFC did offer Fedor boat loads of money just like everyone else does. The difference is that the UFC owns its fighters and doesn't want them to fight anywhere else, as well as wanting to own their likeness rights and share their endorsement deals.
Fedor is considered the greatest Combat Sambo Champion ever in Russia (the country's national sport), and if he signed with the UFC he wouldn't be able to compete in those tournaments for one. The other thing was that the UFC contract stated that Fedor cannot leave the UFC undefeated as well as some other wierd things that I can't remember. There is a copy of Fedor's interview on the net where he explained why he didn't sign and in short yeah Dana and Zuffa were being monopolizing dicks.
As for Mir vs Brock I think Brock is way overrated and he'll lose again to Mir. I don't know why people don't like Mir, everytime I hear him in an interview I think this is a good guy. I actually laughed my ass off a couple times there as he has a good sense of humour, I particularly liked the dick on the chest tattoo comment.
Either way I'll be surprised if Brock can beat the guy, too many skills in Mir's arsenal for brute strenght to get by on.
He hasn't even fought for a year. He can beat guys who fought their whole life. If you don't think he is training to just brake Mirs legs then wake up. Lesner could take anyone from his weight class down. Mir is a damaged beyond repair and he knows it. If Lesner just focusses on that Mir will worry about being a cripple the rest of his life. Nobody can even get their arms securely around his chest. That means impossible to take down.
He knocked out a 220 lb, 45 year old man ... what else has he really done?
Randy had no submission game what-so-ever, and minimal striking ... Mir is much better in both areas.
I assume that Brock will use his wrestling in reverse to keep the fight standing. I don't think that Mir will underestimate Brock's speed and punching power this time.
Coulture had just taken out gabriel gonzaga before the lesnar fight. Coulture might not be a top submission guy, but his ground and pound is real, real good.
Mir will be taken down and pounded out, most likely in the first round, but he might make it to the second round. Thats my prediction.
BROCK LESNAR WILL PUMMEL FRANK "FAKE KNEE INJURY" MIR THIS TIME AROUND. IF NOT FOR ONE SMALL SLIP BY LESNAR, AND A HIT TO THE BACK OF THE HEAD MIR WOULD HAVE BEEN PUNCHED OUT LIKE THE LITTLE SILLY, SORRY, SISSY HE IS. BROCK LESNAR IS THE REAL DEAL AND WILL STAY AT THE TOP OF THE UFC FOR A LONG TIME. HE HAS DISPOSED OF THE PILE OF CRAP COTOURE, AND WILL CONTINUE TO DOMINATE. THERE IS A REASON WHY HE WAS CALLED AND STILL IS CALLED THE "NEXT BIG THING", AND WAS THE YOUNGEST WWE CHAMPION, NOW HELD BY RANDY ORTON. I WILL BE RINGSIDE IN JULY TO HEAR THE BONES OF FRANK MIR BREAK, AND SEE HIS BODY GO LIMP AS HE WRITHES IN HORRIBLE PAIN. "UNTIL NEXT TIME, AND ALWAYS REMEMBER, YOU HEARD IT FROM HERE FIRST"
PAGS...PROFESSIONAL BROADCAST JOURNALIST...YALE GRADUATE, AND SMARTER THAN ALL OF YOU
did you really just say earning a wwe title was an accomplishment that actually means something? do you think pro wrestling is real?
Even idiots get college degrees these days.
Retrojoke now compares Mir to Lidell , HAHAHAH Retrojoke was the one saying " Theres no way Lidell will lose to Rua" HAHAHAH Retro you know jack about MMA
PAGS = ridiculous liar LMAO
Retro - Lesnar did get a highlight reel worthy punch on Heath Herring. But it didn't KO him, and Lesnar never did manage to finish him. His GnP is something to be feared, but so is Mir's submission game.
We'll have to see who gets it.
Eric- are you serious that "Randy has no submission game what-so-ever"and "minimal striking"?
Randy vs Tony Halme, UFC 13...Randy wins by rear naked choke.
Randy vs Mike Van Arsdale, UFC 54...Randy wins by anaconda choke.
Randy vs Tim Sylvia, UFC 68...Short inside leg kick followed by a hellacious right hand, pure domination all 5 rounds.
how does getting some info beforehand to back up your claims sound?
