MMA Top 10 Middleweights: Any Challengers to Anderson Silva?

The new list of the top 10 middleweights in MMA is a mess, and I'm not sure what to do about it. Despite a fairly lackluster win at UFC 97, Anderson Silva is clearly the best middleweight in the world. In fact, he's so clearly the best that putting together the rest of the list was a depressing exercise because I really couldn't see a middleweight who's likely to give Silva much of a challenge.

I also don't even know who I should consider a true middleweight anymore, considering that Rich Franklin has moved up to light heavyweight to avoid Silva, Dan Henderson moved up to light heavyweight to fight Franklin and will now move back down to middleweight, Wanderlei Silva is planning to move down from light heavyweight to middleweight and Gegard Mousasi is planning to move up from middleweight to light heavyweight.

For now, I consider Mousasi a middleweight and Franklin, Henderson and Wanderlei light heavyweights. With all that said, here's my list of the Top 10 middleweights in MMA, none of whom I think would have more than a faint hope of beating Anderson Silva, at least on a day when Silva walks into the Octagon motivated.

Top 10 Middleweights in MMA
1. Anderson Silva
2. Gegard Mousasi
3. Yushin Okami
4. Vitor Belfort
5. Nate Marquardt
6. Demian Maia
7. Robbie Lawler
8. Thales Leites
9. Wilson Gouveia
10. Jorge Santiago
