Strikeforce will put on its first MMA event of the year Saturday night at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, and the fights will air on Showtime. But watching on TV isn't the only way to see the fights if you won't be in the arena. It might not even be the best way.
Showtime is also offering the fights live online, and viewers of the online broadcast, which they're calling Strikeforce All Access, will have an interactive experience watching the fights that goes far beyond what's available on TV.
The Strikeforce All Access feature will cost $24.95 on Showtime's web site, and it will give viewers the opportunity to choose their own camera angles and their own audio (either the fight call by Showtime announcers Gus Johnson, Mauro Ranallo and Pat Miletich or the audio corresponding to the chosen camera angle), chat with other fans while the fights are going on, view photos from the fights and purchase the fighters' entrance music from iTunes.
The five fights that can be viewed online are:
Frank Shamrock vs. Nick Diaz
Gilbert Melendez vs. Rodrigo Damm
Cristiane "Cris Cyborg" Santos vs. Hitomi Akano
Scott Smith vs. Benji Radach
Brett Rogers vs. Ron Humphrey
The web site for Strikeforce All Access is strikeforce.sho.com.
