UFC 96: Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson Beats Keith Jardine

Quinton "Rampage" Jackson will get a shot at reclaiming the UFC light heavyweight title.

Jackson defeated Keith Jardine by unanimous decision Saturday night at UFC 96 in Columbus, making him the No. 1 contender for the light heavyweight championship. Jackson, himself a former light heavyweight champion, is expected to fight the current champ, Rashad Evans, in May at UFC 98.

It was a good, back-and-forth fight that went pretty much as expected: Jardine relied on his leg kicks, while Rampage tried to use his superior punching power. Jardine got the better of Rampage in the first round, but in the second and third, Rampage used his superior punching power to keep Jardine on his heels. Two judges gave the fight to Jackson by 29-28 scores, while the third gave it to Jackson 30-27.

Jackson's career record improves to 30-7, while Jardine falls to 14-5-1.

In the UFC 96 co-main event, Shane Carwin needed just 69 seconds to knock out Gabriel Gonzaga. That fight was one of six on the card that ended by first-round KO or TKO. Here are the complete results:

Shane Nelson beat Aaron Riley by first-round TKO (strikes)
