UFC 96 Live Blog: Rampage Jackson- Keith Jardine, Carwin-Gonzaga

This is the UFC 96 live blog of Saturday night's two big fights, Quinton "Rampage" Jackson vs. Keith Jardine and Shane Carwin vs. Gabriel Gonzaga.

Rampage Jackson vs. Keith Jardine
Jardine is on his way to the Octagon. Jardine is in the Octagon. Rampage is on his way to the Octagon. Rampage is in the Octagon.
Round 1: This fight is underway. Rampage walks right into a punch and then they tie up. They're against the fence in a clinch. The fans are booing 30 seconds into the fight because they're just holding. The ref separates them and now Jardine throws a couple of punches. Jardine throws a leg kick and Rampage looks like he felt it. Jardine is really attacking Rampage's lead leg. Jardine is kicking and moving, which is exactly what he wants to do. Rampage lands a couple of short rights but they don't do much damage. They're clutching against the fence again. Halfway through the first round, not much damage done by either fighter. Jardine throws another leg kick, that'd definitely what he wants to do. Rampage lands a punch but without much on it. Rampage throws a powerful left hand but misses. Rampage catches a kick but can't take advantage of it. Now Rampage lands a couple of very good punches. Good jab from Rampage. Jardine with a front kick. Rampage lands a couple more hard punches. A very close first round, I give it to Jardine, 10-9.

Round 2: Rampage with a 1-2 combination. Rampage just wants to keep throwing punches and thinks he can eventually exploit Jardine's chin. But Jardine is doing damage with the leg kicks. Big kick to the shoulder from Jardine. Rampage is looking like something of a one-trick pony, just throwing punches and not doing much else. That doesn't mean it won't work, though. A brutal left hand floors Jardine. Rampage has Jardine in trouble, but Jardine gets back to his feet. Rampage had a chance to finish Jardine there but Jardine got back up. Rampage with the takedown. But Jardine gets back up. Now they're having a little bit of a face-off in the middle of the ring, both looking tired. Jardine throws a couple of punches but doesn't have much on them. Jardine landed a kick right to the groin. Rampage looks OK though. Now Jardine has Rampage in trouble with punches. And then Rampage comes back and lands a couple himself. And then Rampage connects with a left hand. Nice right hand from Rampage. Another very close round, I give it to Rampage, 10-9.

Round 3: Jardine with a front kick to start the third round. Jardine presses forward. Rampage backs Jardine off with a good punch. Rampage went for a leg kick but it was slow and Jardine threw a good punch. Good left hand from Rampage and then a takedown by Rampage. Jardine has Rampage in half guard. Jardine gets back up, Rampage did very little damage on the ground. Rampage has two takedowns but Jardine has been able to get up at will. Both guys are looking a little tired. We're halfway through the round and it's still anyone's fight. Nice left from Rampage. Another good left hand from Rampage. Now Jardine throws a couple punches and then Rampage lands a big hook. Jardine goes for a takedown but Rampage stuffs him. One minute to go and it's still a close fight. They're separated in the clinch and now Rampage throws a couple more punches. Rampage lands some more punches, hurting Jardine. Jardine throws a head kick but doesn't connect. Rampage floors Jardine at the bell! I give the third round to Rampage, 10-9. I'll tell you what the judges say as soon as they announce it. Rampage Jackson beats Keith Jardine by unanimous decision.

Shane Carwin vs. Gabriel Gonzaga

Round 1: This fight is underway. Carwin goes on the offensive but misses. Gonzaga lands a big right hand. That's the hardest Carwin has ever been hit. Gonzaga gets the takedown. Gonzaga lands a big elbow on the ground. Carwin got up. Carwin lands a brutal punch and it's over! Shane Carwin knocks out Gabriel Gonzaga!
