All indications are that the Ultimate Fighting Championship will continue its usual practice of putting on huge shows Memorial Day Weekend, with the heavyweight title unification fight between Brock Lesnar and Frank Mir taking place at UFC 98 on May 23.
The co-main event at UFC 98 will be Matt Serra vs. Matt Hughes, and Sean Sherk vs. Frank Edgar, James Irvin vs. Drew McFedries and George Roop vs. Dave Kaplan are all expected to appear on the card as well.
But the fight that will make this a huge pay-per-view event is Lesnar vs. Mir. Lesnar, who won the UFC heavyweight championship by defeating Randy Couture at UFC 91, is the promotion's single biggest star. But Mir, who won the interim heavyweight belt by defeating Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira at UFC 92, has already beaten Lesnar once. Their rematch will be among the most highly anticipated fights in UFC history.
The UFC has not officially announced the card, but multiple sites have indicated it's done, and it's the fight that would make the most sense for the UFC 98 main event. This is going to be a huge night of MMA.
