Even though Efrain Escudero gave Junie the beatdown that so many of us wanted to see him take on last night's episode of The Ultimate Fighter, Browning will still step into the Octagon next Saturday. Browning will take on Dave Kaplan in the finale of The Ultimate Fighter Season 8 on December 13 at The Palms in Las Vegas.
Obviously, this is smart scheduling on the part of the UFC. Junie was the biggest villain of Season 8, and we all love to watch a villain because we hope to see him get his ass kicked. Junie's a jerk, but he's a jerk who's good for ratings.
And Junie's a jerk who likes to talk tough. Here's what he says at UFC.com:
I feel like I'm way ahead of anybody on the show, even Efrain, the guy I got beat by. I feel that if I fought him again right now, it wouldn't even be close. I'm all ears when I listen to people in the gym and I'll be a lot better everywhere. I promise, everyone will be impressed, and in this fight I'm gonna show people stuff they've never seen.We shall see.
Overall, the finale of The Ultimate Fighter figures to be a good show. These are the five fights we'll get for free on Spike:
Kevin Burns vs. Anthony Johnson
Ryan Bader vs. Vinicius Magalhães
Phillipe Nover vs. Efrain Escudero
Wilson Gouveia vs. Jason MacDonald
Junie Browning vs. Dave Kaplan
