Gina Carano is the most famous female fighter in mixed martial arts, but after EliteXC went belly-up, fans were left wondering when they'd see her in the cage again. As it turns out, Carano is wondering as well.
In an interview with Ariel Helwani of MMA Rated, Carano was asked when she would fight again and answered, "I have no clue, man. ... I have no idea."
The reason she can't commit to a time, place or opponent for her next fight? "I still have contractual issues with EliteXC," she said.
So while Carano said she's open to fighting with either the WEC or Strikeforce, for now she's left waiting and wondering when her contractual issues will be resolved. And MMA fans are left without the opportunity to watch the sport's highest-profile female fighter.
The full interview is after the jump.

I have enjoyed watching Gina's fights ... often as much as her male counterparts, but honestly I'm not all that excited about her signing with another organization. Maybe that organization can put together the Cyborg fight (unlikely), but what after that?
It's going to take a couple years for women fighters to come up through the small shows, so that at least a couple weight divisions have some depth.
I'd rather see here in a movie.
