The B.J. Penn-Georges St. Pierre fight at UFC 94 will be great, but it could wreak havoc on the UFC lightweight and welterweight title pictures. Consider these simple facts:

1. The winner of Saturday night's Kenny Florian-Joe Stevenson UFC 91 fight has been promised the next shot at the lightweight title.

2. Thiago Alves has been promised the next shot at the welterweight title.

3. If Penn beats St. Pierre, he owns both the lightweight and welterweight titles.

So what happens if Penn beats St. Pierre on January 31? Does he stay at welterweight and fight Alves while the Florian-Stevenson winner sits out? Or does he move down to lightweight and fight the Florian-Stevenson winner while Alves sits out?

The bottom line is that if Penn wins, either Alves or the Florian-Stevenson winner will have a ridiculously long layoff -- or another fight -- before getting a title shot. Enjoy watching Florian and Stevenson in the Octagon Saturday night. You might not be seeing the winner again any time soon.
