UFC heavyweight champion Randy Couture is just over a week away from fighting Brock Lesnar at UFC 91, and although he's actually the underdog in the fight, Couture says in this interview with Dave Farra of RawVegas.tv that he doesn't see anything to be worried about against Lesnar:
Couture said he watched film of Lesnar's two previous UFC fights -- a submission loss to Frank Mir and a dominant unanimous decision over Heath Herring -- to get an idea of what kind of opponent he's about to face, and that he's not too concerned.
"I studied those at the beginning of camp, got kind of a mental picture of him and his approach," Couture said. "I didn't see anything terribly concerning, obviously he moves well and he's a big strong guy, and you see clearly from the Herring fight where you don't want to be, that's sitting on the bottom, sitting on your knees, getting hammered."
It's a little surprising that Couture "didn't see anything terribly concerning" when watching previous Lesnar fights; I think I'd be just a wee bit concerned by the way Lesnar destroyed Herring.
Of course, I'm not Randy Couture. And you get the sense that Couture is very, very confident that he's simply a more skilled MMA fighter with more experience in the UFC, and that that trumps the size advantage that Lesnar has. I think Couture is right.

"Lesnar destroyed Herring" - did we watch the same match? I must admit, the punch that sent Herring flying was impressive (Mr. Lesnar IS a very powerful man), but other than that, it wasn't the 'blowout' that some people claim it to be (he won by DECISION against a man who's known primarily for striking, remember?). I've said it before, and I'll say it again, a man who's had only 3 MMA fights ever should not be going up against the UFC Heavyweight Champion. Lesnar is a VERY accomplished wrestler and he's built like a brick sh!thouse, but wrestling ain't the only thing one needs to know, and size/strenght can only get you so far...
id say ufc heavy weight champion is pretty far
