John Alessio to fight Paul Daley at MFC 19

Xtreme Couture's John Alessio will meet Cage Rage champion Paul Daley Friday, December 5 at MFC 19 "Long Time Coming" in Enoch, Alberta, Canada.

Alessio confirmed Monday to MMAFighting.com his one-fight deal with MFC and the welterweight matchup.

"I'm super excited for this fight," Alessio told MMAFighting.com. "I think its one of the biggest welterweight fights Canada has seen. Daley brings in good striking and he's athletic and explosive, this is a big fight for my career."

Alessio is a 10-time WEC/UFC competitor and is coming off two straight wins against UFC veterans Pete Spratt and Gideon Ray.

Alessio was born in Vancouver, Canada but has moved to Las Vegas to train at Xtreme Couture. He'll be fighting in Canada for the first time in over three years.

"I have a lot of family and friends coming out for this," Alessio said. "It's great to return to my home country to fight because I've been staying in the US for so long a lot of people forget I am Canadian. I am mostly just looking forward to getting in the ring again. Fighting is what I love to do."

Daley last fought in a losing effort against Jake Shields in a welterweight championship bout at the October 4 EliteXC "Heat" event on CBS.

The fight will be televised on HDNet.
