EliteXC's second prime time network television mixed martial arts show ended with an exciting rematch between Robbie Lawler and Scott Smith, with Lawler retaining his middleweight belt by stopping Smith with a series of knees and punches to win a second-round TKO.It was a rematch of the Lawler-Smith fight on the first CBS show, and it was a good one that showed that Lawler is the superior fighter. He's no Anderson Silva, but he's one of the top middleweights outside UFC.
Overall, I think the CBS show was good for the sport of MMA. Some people will make note of the fact that the canvas was stained with blood from the outset, thanks to an ugly cut suffered by Brandon Tarn in the night's first fight, a TKO loss to Drew Montgomery. But for the most part it was a solid showing for the sport.
In the other fights of the CBS show, Nick Diaz beat Thomas Denny, Cris Cyborg beat Shayna Baszler and Jake Shields beat Nick Thompson.
In the Showtime portion of the EliteXC show, Antonio Silva won the EliteXC heavyweight title with a second-round TKO over Justin Eilers.Showtime's first fight was a good one, with Wilson Reis beating Brian Caraway by unanimous decision. After that Rafael Feijao beat Travis Galbraith with some brutal knees leading to a first-round TKO.

Lawler is a punk Anderson Silva would make short work of him so would Chuck Liddell or Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, or Dan "Hollywood" Henderson, or Wanderlei Silva who may have have his best days behind him. Lawler has a bad attitude. His record in UFC is 4-3 not very good when he faces top 10 guys.

Half of the fighters you mentioned fight in a different weight class. 16-4 is an accomplished record with a record of 10-4 against fighters who have fought in the UFC and Pride. One win is against a fighter who still fights in the UFC. In 20 fights Scott Smith said he had never been kicked that hard before he fought Rob. And yes I talked to Scott Smith after the fight. I guess Sherdog and Fcfighter dont know what their talking about when they rank him in the top 7 in the world. Are the 1000 or so fighters ranked below him punks also. The only punk is you. When you win a couple of championships you might reserve the right to call someone a punk. Until then sit your faggot ass on the couch and watch other people fight.

I don't know any good mma fighter who just sits back and takes a pounding because he is waiting for the ref to inspect his opponents bleeding cut which smith said he did. Smith called himself an idiot for doing that and he was doing descent in this fight up till then. Silva was in attendance and some announcer commented that in a perfect world the winner would take on Silva. Come on seriously, I don't think Lawler could beat Franklin or Dan Henderson, he is at the top of his division of EliteXC which has a game but sub quality fighters.
