Kendall Grove vs. Jorge Rivera
Rivera has entered the Octagon. Grove has entered the Octagon.
Round 1: This fight is underway. They go to the ground early. Rivera lands some strikes on the ground and has the advantage. Grove is taking some serious punishment. And it's over! Jorge Rivera wins by first round TKO (strikes). Wow. That was simply a dominant performance by Jorge Rivera.
Wilson Gouveia vs. Jason Lambert
Gouveia has entered the Octagon. Lambert has entered the Octagon.
Round 1: They start out boxing, with Lambert trying to get the takedown and succeeding. Lambert is on top, and this is right where he wants to be. Lambert is punching Gouveia in the ears. Lambert clearly has the advantage here, although there's not a ton of action and we're halfway through the first round. They're back on their feet. Lambert's just dropping his head and going for the double leg. He might be better off throwing a knee here. Lambert is in trouble as Gouveia almost had the arm, but Lambert got out. Lambert is staying on top, throwing punches and controlling things, although he hasn't done a ton of damage. Lambert is landing some forearms to the head on the ground, and as this round comes to an end, I definitely call it 10-9 for Lambert.
Round 2: We have a delay before the second round as Gouveia lost his mouthpiece. Lambert starts things off by pushing Gouveia against the fence, but Gouveia lands a huge left hook! Unbelievable! Lambert sinks to the ground like a sack of potatoes. Wilson Gouveia wins by second round KO. I can't remember the last time I saw a punch come out of nowhere like that. The fight was all Lambert and then the next thing you know, Lambert is unconscious on the floor.
Marcus Davis vs. Jess Liaudin
Liaudin has entered the Octagon. Davis has entered the Octagon.
Round 1: This fight is underway. Liaudin tries a high kick but misses. Davis is playing into Liaudin's strategy by staying to the outside. And then Davis catches him with one shot and it's over. A left hand to the neck. Liaudin falls flat on his back. Marcus Davis wins by first round KO. I don't think I've ever seen a quick knockout quite like that. These have been a crazy three fights. I can't say they've been three particularly good fights, but if you like knockouts, you've liked this card so far.
UFC wasn't quite prepared for how quickly these first three fights ended, and there's going to be a delay. The Gonzaga-Werdum fight will start at about 4:30 p.m. Eastern.
We're finally coming up on the Gonzaga-Werdum fight after a long delay. UFC didn't plan this one very well.
Gabriel Gonzaga vs. Fabricio Werdum
Werdum is on his way into the Octagon. Werdum has entered the Octagon. Gonzaga is on his way into the Octagon. The British fans don't seem all that enthusiastic about Gonzaga, which surprises me a bit. Gonzaga is now in the Octagon.
Round 1: This fight is underway. Werdum lands the first punch, and then they go to the ground early. Gonzaga is on top and has the early advantage. Gonzaga is controlling the fight so far. They stand back up. Gonzaga lands a solid leg kick. Gonzaga lands a huge leg kick that knocks Werdum down. Werdum tries a head kick and misses; Gonzaga lands a leg kick and then another. A nice takedown by Werdum. Werdum is on top and landing some strikes, but there's not a lot of action on the ground. Gonzaga rolled over and tried to put Werdum in a knee submission, but it was mostly a stalemate late in the round, and I'll give the round to Gonzaga, 10-9.
Round 2: Werdum lands a couple of early punches and then goes in for a takedown but can't manage it. Gonzaga doesn't want anything to do with Werdum on the ground. They're on their feet and the fans are booing because not a lot is going on. Werdum tries to kick, Gonzaga grabs it and takes Werdum down, but Gonzaga stays on his feet. The ref admonishes both men to stop standing around and start fighting. A knee by Werdum lands on Gonzaga's chin, and then Gonzaga takes the business end of some strikes, and Werdum is finally doing some damage. Werdum is attempting a guillotine and is landing knees in the meantime. Gonzaga is hurt. He's on the ground and he's tiring. He's having a hard time defending himself as Werdum lands strikes on the ground. And it's over! The ref stops it. Fabricio Werdum wins by second round TKO (strikes)
